For the fact that I love sports, the Australian Open Men Singles Final is a must watch event featuring two of the best tennis players in the pinnacle of their career.
Rafael Nadal (1) vs Roger Federer (2)
It was a riveting match with the current world No. 1, Rafael Nadal clinching his sixth Grand Slam titles on all surfaces [7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2] in a marathon battle that lasted 4 hours and 14 minutes.
Both players showed grim determination and a do-or-die attitude with every single shots they hit. However, the outcome of the match was insignificant compared to the display of humanity and respect they had for each other.
He cried, and it was hard not to cry with him. This was one of the moment where his tears depict his sadness, disappointment, frustation and mixed feelings altogether. Just as he wanted to congrats Nadal, before the tears run down, he uttered "God, it's killing me".
He was so close in clinching his 14th Grand Slam titles equalling the record set by Pete Sampras for the most Grand Slams wins. And yet Wimbledon had eluded him and so was Australian Open.
After that, Rafael Nadal puts his arms around Federer offering friendly consolation and in his acceptance speech, "Roger, sorry for today. I know how you feel right now. Remember that you're a true champion and one of the best and will definitely beat Pete Sampras 14 titles".
Eventually, out of all these their bond gets strongers. They share the same passion, the love for the game, and mutual respect for one another. They are the best role models for our younger generation and a perfect ambassador representing friendship. That's what we called pure sportmanship. Never mind losing the battle.
